Hallo WSB-Mitglieder, willkommen, liebe Gäste.

Ich weiß ja nicht, wie wichtig Euch Eure Privatsphäre bei der Kommunikation mit Mitmenschen ist, aber zumindest ist es gut zu wissen, dass man sie wahren kann, wenn man will. Mit OpenPGP gibt es einen Standard, von dem Ihr bestimmt mal gehört habt. Er wird unter anderem von PGP eingesetzt, aber auch von GnuPG, eine OpenSource-Variante, die auch von der deutschen Regierung unterstützt wird. Diese nutze auch ich, meinen öffentlichen Schlüssel und meinen Fingerprint findet Ihr im Impressum meiner Webseite.

GnuPG ist klasse und ich komme gut damit zurecht, auch um einfach mal eben Dateien zu verschlüsseln. Allerdings macht der E-Mail-Austausch damit noch keine wirkliche Freude, da GnuPG im Terminal und nicht in $KLICKIBUNTIMAILCLIENT läuft.

Das soll jetzt anders sein, denn neben KMail bietet jetzt auch der Mozilla-Mailclient Thunderbird ein Plugin, mit dem man bequem die Sicherheitsfeatures, die GnuPG oder auch PGP bietet auf E-Mail anwenden kann. Enigmail can encrypt/sign mail when sending, and also decrypt/authenticate received mail. It can also import/export public keys. Enigmail supports both the inline PGP format, and the PGP/MIME format (RFC 3156), which can be used to encrypt attachments.
